Sandra Mackay

Sandra Mackay was born and brought up on The Isle of Lewis. Her first language was Gaelic and she has been singing from the age of 5. Sandra left the island to live in Edinburgh where she became a founder member of Gaelic folk band Tannas. With Tannas she has toured Europe and received many awards, including "Best Act" at Lorient Festival in Brittany and a top 5 folk CD in Q magazine.
Since moving back north and starting a family she has been teaching Gaelic song throughout the Strath and is a well respected tutor throughout Scotland.
Sandra took up post of YMI Coordinator last year for Fèis Spè.
